Local Charities Benefit when Washington Duke Inn
Upgrades Guest Room TVs

Durham, NC — March 5, 2010: In the luxury hotel business today it’s all about exceptional customer service, gourmet cuisine, elegantly appointed guest rooms, keeping guests connected with wireless Internet services and more. So it’s not surprising that the AAA Four Diamond award-winning Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club recently completed upgrading all their guest rooms and suites with new flat-screen TVs. But before the new TVs ever arrived came the question of what to do with the existing TVs. The path was clear: Recycle by donating them to those in need. Three local charities in Durham were the recipients of TVs valued at $12,450: Triangle Residential Options for Substance Abusers, Inc. (TROSA), Durham Rescue Mission — Rescued Treasures Thrift Shoppe and Habitat for Humanity of Durham — ReStore. The donated TVs will be used in the non-profits’ facilities or sold in thrift stores whose proceeds benefit their charitable initiatives in the community.

The Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club has always been actively involved in supporting local charitable activities so it was only natural for the Inn to donate the TVs. “It's charitable and it’s green, that’s a win-win for everyone,” says Danielle Kaspar, IOM, Director of Community Relations at the Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club.
