Fairview Repeats the Exceptional: Receives Wine Spectator Award of Excellence

Durham, NC — May 24, 2007: For seven years running, the Fairview Dining Room has received the Wine Spectator magazine's Award of Excellence, a commendation coveted by first-class dining establishments the world over. Located at the prestigious Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club in Durham, North Carolina, the Fairview is one of the area's finest gourmet dining and wine establishments.

The Fairview is renowned for its seasonally inspired contemporary cuisine, exceptional service and glorious vistas of the prestigious Robert Trent Jones-designed Duke University Golf Club. The restaurant has assembled a wine list with close to 250 varieties of the world's finest vintages, with selections coming primarily from the U.S., France and Italy, and with 40 of those labels available by the glass. The award-winning Fairview has seating for 140 which includes a delightful dining experience on its outdoor terrace through much of the year.

Wine Spectator, the authoritative magazine on viticulture, annually reviews restaurant wine lists from around the world, recognizing those with outstanding offerings. Only those restaurants with the finest attention to their selections are chosen for the Award of Excellence.

Executive Chef Jason Cunningham is honored by the Wine Spectator's successive recognition. “It’s gratifying to be recognized for creating the perfect dining experience for our guests by preparing innovative cuisine and accompanying it with the finest wines available.” Each evening, the Fairview pairs its choice of wine with a featured entrée special, and the restaurant’s sommelier is available to assist guests with selecting the wine that best complements their menu choices and palates. In addition to the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence, the Fairview is a 14-year consecutive recipient of the AAA Four Diamond Award.

The Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club is located on the campus of Duke University, only twenty minutes from Raleigh-Durham International Airport and ten minutes from Research Triangle Park, and is the only AAA Four Diamond hotel in Durham. Nestled on 300 acres filled with tall pines and hardwoods, the Inn is known for its beautiful facility and grounds, 271 elegantly appointed guest rooms and suites, marvelous cuisine in the Four Diamond Award-winning Fairview Dining Room, the Bull Durham Bar, a Robert Trent Jones-designed 18-hole championship golf course, and convenience to local points of interest. It is set apart from other area hotels and conference centers by its unparalleled service, gracious staff, luxurious interiors and attention to detail. The Inn is owned by Duke University and is managed by The Continental Companies of Miami, Florida.
